The community has spoken and we want our historic town hall and theatre to be revitalized into a community arts and culture centre

This video was made by local videographer Josh Welch. It’s been viewed more than 10,000 times, and features long-time resident and Town Hall advocate Doris Langdon, and the view of a local student who doesn’t want us to leave the past behind as we move into the future.

Timeless Beauty
The Olde Town Hall has been around for well over 100 years. The incredible charm, detail, and character is replicated in no other public building in Southgate. Tin ceilings, beautiful wood and tinted windows grace the theatre. They really don’t make them like this any more. The theatre with balcony can seat over 200 people at capacity, with meeting space and endless first-floor potential as well.

Ideas about the future of this building are coming from the people who live here – movies, plays, dance, theatre classes, session for photographers and videographers.
In the heritage space and art gallery – rotating displays of local history and artwork. Art includes wood-working, quilting, and many other traditional past-times.
